On the 26th of November, National Milk Day was observed in honor of Dr Varghese Kurien
Amul celebrated the birth anniversary of Dr. Verghese Kurien by organizing the Amul CleanFuel Bio CNG Car Rally. The use of bio-CNG in the rally aligns with the broader efforts towards sustainable and clean energy.
This event showcased the success of the dairy revolution, a cause that Dr. Verghese Kurien was instrumental in advancing through his work with the Amul cooperative, and was also held proudly in Khed City, Pune. Khed City is well established as a developed industrial park and is famously known for hosting various industrial and manufacturing units. The park is designed to accommodate a range of industries, including automotive, engineering, information technology, food processing, and more.
It becomes important to also mention that the collaboration with Maruti Suzuki India happened for a clean fuel car rally, demonstrating a commitment to environmentally friendly practices.
It’s overwhelming to see the initiatives that highlight the intersection of agriculture, sustainability, and clean energy in commemorating Dr. Verghese Kurien’s contributions.
Amul, India’s most renowned brand in dairy, is putting up a state-of-the-art plant with an investment of Rs. 500 crore to have a milk processing capacity of 5 lakh liters per day and an ice cream production capacity of 1 lakh liters per day. Milk procurement for this plant will be done in Maharashtra.
Now this is what we call a milky feather in the proud cap of Khed City!
